$10,000 59th Clue – The right man isn’t a brute

Clue: The right man isn’t a brute

Solution: I think that with this clue it is saying that for those that have found the website already they should not use brute force attacks on the password as it wont work, usually you would start brute forcing password by dictionary attacks and then randomizing the words, letters, numbers, chars, of course this will always work but it might take a long time, since the site can accept passwords of a length of 16 characters.  So in a way it would be less time consuming resolving the clues that will give the password away.

The Right Man could very well be ‘Rights of Man’ as it sounds so, and is a trademark of cryptic clues. Right of Man’ is also authored by Thomas Paine. There is also another Thomas (Thoma Spencer) who published ‘Right of Man’. So the ‘right’ Thomas may mean the correct Thomas as well as he is related to human ‘Right’. All relevant links and discussion can be seen at Whirlpool. We are awaiting alternate thought and solutions.

What if in this case it isn’t “brute” but Brute as in “Et tu, Brute!”. Who was Ceaser’s “right hand man”?

Gdesigner, thats good alternative thinking, but if you see my second update (whilrpool), it looks to be heading in that direction …
What I see as imortant is
[Page 77, line 21] a brutal and licentious soldiery whether Kipling was quoting from memory or used another source, this remark is usually attributed to Thomas, Baron Erskine (1750–1823)
And if you read about Thomas Baron, will find the reference back to Thomas Paine..

“Three years afterwards he brought down the opposition alike of friends and foes by defending Thomas Paine, author of Rights of Man, holding that an advocate has no right, by refusing a brief, to convert himself into a judge.”

I see that the solution posted on blog says something about avoiding brute force attack etc. But since the Captcha protects input I am not sure whether someone can try brute force even if he/she wants..

There is a way to get around the captcha script though, or well there is a script in the wild to capture the captcha words, add them and post them.
I used to have the script somewhere, will have to try and find it :)

The solution is to be updated with the best solution though, just better to have a semi solution for now rather than having a (check back soon) :P
